LIRR Fare System

Buying Tickets and Payment Options

The TrainTime app is the quickest and most convenient method for purchasing tickets and viewing schedules. When you purchase tickets on a train, you’ll be charged an additional fee of $5.75 to $6.50 unless there are no ticket machines at your departure station.

The LIRR is also shifting to the OMNY contactless pay system, which will ultimately replace MetroCard. With OMNY, you can pay for fares with contactless bank cards, mobile wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.) or OMNY cards.
